Army to Create Internment/Resettlement Units
Nestling innocently inside an article about how the Army supposedly will start restraining its interrogators and using rules closer to the Geneva Conventions, we find this gem:
Officials also said the Army will create 35 special “internment / resettlement” units comprising 3,000 soldiers specializing in handling detainees by 2008.

Am I the only one who isn’t happy to learn that the Army will have 3,000 specialists at “internment and resettlement”?

What the hell? Three thousand?

That’s just an awful lot more interning and resettling than I’m comfortable with.

I wonder what most people would think — in our land of the free, home of the baffled — if someone told them that four or five nice young internment and resettlement specialists would be coming by to spend a few hours with them.

Maybe they would assume it was a bunch of gay (but not married!) interior decorators, bringing along a new intern who was going to help them resettle their closet space.

Eventually they would realize it was even better than that. Imagine getting a whole new home, courtesy of Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales, and John Negroponte.
